Deep red ochre is a colour found in practically every culture from Venetian palaces to Vietnamese temples. Red earths were plentiful and relatively easy to come by so the colour is often associated with the colour for priming furniture and as the base coat for gilding. It is a wonderful colour on its own or as a base for other colours particularly when distressing.
The warmth of the terracotta hue of Primer Red underneath brings out the green tinge of Chateau Grey.
Primer Red goes well with the following colours and fabrics; Chateau Grey, Paris Grey, Versailles and in the fabrics: Pastoralle - Deep Red Single Width Linen Toile and Monaco.
*TIP - add Old White to make 'Venice'
Add 8 parts of Old White to one part of Primer Red and you will have the beautiful and distinctive brown pinks of VENICE
